Accommodation has always been important to me. It is not just a place to sleep, but also a part of the travel experience. I love all types of stays, from domes to treetop houses, from rustic camps to luxurious resorts. And when it comes to hotels, I'd prefer it to have a little uniqueness, or rather, personality of its own.
We had to honor to stay at The Oak Bay Beach Hotel in Victoria. As the name suggests, it is indeed an ocean front hotel situates right by the Pacific Ocean, as well as the beautiful Oak Bay Marina. It's also located in the heart of Victoria, with a very short and convenient distance to the downtown.
The elegance of the hotel showered upon us as we stepped into the lobby. I've always had a thing with the English Manor House Design, and the Oak Bay Beach Hotel is a tasteful representation of that.
We took the standard guestroom after a fast and easy check-in; the room was NOT at all STANDARD !
I heard of this saying from somewhere, and cannot agree more : "The quality of the toilet paper tells a lot about the quality of that household". I apply the same to a hotel's washroom and its amenities; which is always something I look at first.
The Oak Bay Hotel has a very adorable washroom with striped wall papers, two sinks, a standing shower, a separate toilet...
ANDDDD, my favorite element of all, a deep bathtub that sits by a window and overlooks to the main room. I love this thoughtful touch that opens up a window for the person taking a bath to be able to chat with the person outside. You can even see the TV from the tub !
It is also ideal for a romantic bubble bath together with your loved ones without feeling being concealed in the washroom.

Our standard room is pretty spacious and has two queen size beds. The room has everything you expect to find in a hotel room - loads of fresh towels, high-speed wifi and local calls, hair dryer, coffee, tea, and water service, bathrobes, a TV with 3 movie channels, a safe, etc.
One suggestion though, that I'd hope they have in-room slippers. I was surprised that they don't :(
The hotel itself also offers noon check out, nightly turndown service, complimentary parking, dog friendly rooms, in-room dining, and even In-Room Chef !
What attracted us in the first place was the complimentary full access to the heated seaside mineral baths ! Just grab the comfortable bath ropes provided in room, or grab one at the poolside, and go enjoy the pools free of charge.
The baths are just steps away from the ocean shoreline, where we sat and watched families of seals swam by !
The pools were heated and so comfortable. There are poolside dining where you can order food and drinks and enjoy them while soaking in mineral water.
We didn't order anything there because we wanted to wind down in our room and call for some room service.
I have a greattttttt love for dining in bed via room service. There's just something about dressing in ropes or PJs and having elaborated meals in bed that takes my heart.
In conclusion, I do highly recommend the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. The heated mineral pools are an asset even in the colder months. The room is stylishly designed, comfortable, and modern. Service was great and our nights' rests were nothing but relaxing.
